Impressionism, from France and United States

1 June 2007 - 29 September 2007

Thanks to the FRAME partnership (French Regional American Museums Exchange) and during the summer of its reopening, the musée Fabre will show a prestigious exhibition gathering the Impressionist main works coming from the American FRAME museums.

The American collections will unveil their paintings of this period to a large audience through masterpieces of Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Cézanne, Pissaro. The curators of this exhibition, Rick Bretell and Françoise Cachin, are specialists of this period and have retraced the history of this artistic movement to which was linked at its beginning the painter Frédéric Bazille, born in Montpellier. Prestigious paintings will travel and be shown in the renewed exhibition spaces of the muse Fabre thanks to the links the museum has established with American museums, particularly for the Bonjour, Monsieur Courbet! Exhibition, which travelled in 2004 and 2005 in four American cities (Richmond, Williamstown, Dallas, San Francisco)
