Odilon Redon, an art critic: Multimedia course
In his book A soi-même, journal (1867-1915), notes sur la vie, l’art et les artistes, Odilon Redon expresses his opinion on the most accomplished artists of his time and the ancient masters. He gives reflexions on the painters who conducted him towards the cult of beauty as well as those whom he denies any genius. This multimedia course of 6 movies allies extracts of Redon's writings to artworks coming from the musée Fabre's collections. The words of Redon find an echo in The Bathers and The Meeting by Courbet, The Women of Algiers and Military Exercises by Delacroix, landscapes by Corot and Chintreuil, the classicism of Antiochus and Stratonice by Ingres, and the abundance of the Allegory by Rubens.
